Wearable Laser Warning System

The Wearable Laser Warning System enables personnel to detect laser-based targeting threats at an early stage. Through three distinct alert modes audible, vibration, or a combined audible–vibration warning it delivers threat information to the user instantly. Thanks to its Bluetooth (BLE 5.0) connectivity, it can communicate with other systems and platforms to share threat data and integrate into a wider command-and-control network. Its lightweight, compact and ergonomic design preserves mobility while enhancing situational awareness and rapid response capability.

The Wearable Laser Warning System is a portable laser warning receiver (LWR) solution designed for personnel who require freedom of movement — special forces, reconnaissance teams and maneuver elements — and can be integrated into a backpack or tactical vest. It offers threat detection capability similar to the helmet-mounted variant, but targets a different use profile in terms of placement, power budget and integration flexibility.

When Is It Preferred?

The portable configuration is preferred over the helmet-mounted variant in the following scenarios:

  • Long-duration static surveillance

sentry position, observation point; situations where the personnel's head is not continuously moving, and a separate tripod- or wall-mounted sensor array provides more efficient bearing measurement

  • Heavy equipment use

anti-tank missile operators, sniper teams; situations where adding load to the personal helmet is not desired

  • Modular mission packages

special forces mission-specific equipment sets where the LWR can be quickly added and removed

  • Team leader use

situations where a team leader wants centralized alerts for the whole team

Technical Specifications

  • Weight: ~800 g (sensor head) + ~400 g (control/battery unit)
  • Sensor array: 4–8 sensors (configurable)
  • Coverage: 360° horizontal, ±30° vertical
  • Bearing accuracy: ≤22.5° (optional high-resolution mode down to ≤11.25°)
  • Wavelength: 0.5 – 1.6 μm
  • Response time: <1 ms
  • Power: Rechargeable Li-ion battery, ~36 hours continuous mission (extendable with a spare battery)
  • Environmental: MIL-STD-810H, IP67
  • EMC: MIL-STD-461G

Integration Options

  • Standalone use

with its own display and buzzer

  • Radio integration

broadcasts threat bearing to the team radio network

  • BMS integration

logged onto the command centre's tactical picture as a threat point

  • Countermeasure triggering

automatic integration with in-position countermeasure systems such as smoke launchers

Applications

  • Special forces teams
  • Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) elements
  • Anti-tank and sniper teams
  • Border surveillance positions
  • Forward observer (FO) elements
  • Convoy protection teams (positioned outside the vehicle)

Configuration and Mission Planning

Correct sizing of the system depends on mission-driven parameters: maximum weight the personnel can carry, mission duration, level of radio/BMS integration, and coverage requirements.
