Air Filtration Systems

Air filtration solutions engineered for military platforms, mobile shelters, command centres, and critical infrastructure. The CBRN filtration line provides high-efficiency protection against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear threats, while standard air filtration units deliver clean, safe air in the field.

As CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) threats diversify on the battlefield and across critical infrastructure, air filtration systems are no longer an optional item but a mandatory layer for personnel and equipment safety. The Filtration Systems family covers positive-pressure CBRN filtration solutions developed specifically for mobile shelters, command and control centres, armored platforms and fixed military facilities.

Product Family

The CBRN filtration family divides into two main classes:

  • Air Filtration Unit

Provides particulate, dust and soot control under standard operational conditions. Delivers a continuous supply of clean air into the shelter, allowing personnel to work in a comfortable and safe environment throughout long-duration operations.

  • Positive Pressure CBRN Filtration System

Combines pre-filter, HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) and impregnated activated carbon layers to deliver full-spectrum protection against chemical warfare agents, biological agents and radioactive particulates. Compliant with NATO STANAG collective protection doctrines.

Operating Principle

The core operating principle of the system is to hold the pressure inside the protected volume at approximately 200 ± 20 Pa above atmospheric. This positive pressure prevents contaminated outside air from infiltrating through door gaskets, cable penetrations or structural gaps. Filtered clean air is continuously driven outward, forming a natural barrier that allows personnel inside the shelter to work without protective masks or suits.

The filtration chain is layered: the pre-filter captures coarse particulate and dust load, the HEPA filter captures biological agents and aerosol radioactive particulates at ≥99.97% efficiency, and the activated carbon layer removes chemical warfare agents (nerve agents, blister agents, blood agents, choking agents) through adsorption. Cartridge configuration is customized to the protected volume and threat profile.

International Standards and Compliance

CBRN filtration systems are designed and qualified in accordance with the primary standards referenced in the defence industry:

  • NATO AEP-54

General requirements for collective protection systems

  • NATO STANAG 4447

    CBRN-protected shelter design criteria

  • MIL-STD-810H

Environmental endurance (vibration, shock, temperature, humidity)

  • MIL-STD-461G

    Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI)

  • MIL-STD-1275F

Military vehicle power quality (28V DC)

This compliance set ensures the systems operate continuously between -32 °C and +55 °C and function safely under the mechanical/electrical stress expected in field conditions.

Applications

CBRN filtration solutions are used across a broad range:

  • Field headquarters and battalion command posts
  • Command and control shelters and electronic warfare containers
  • Mobile air traffic control platforms
  • Mobile medical units and battalion medical stations
  • Border surveillance stations
  • Armored personnel carriers and fighting vehicles
  • Civil defence shelters and critical infrastructure control centres

Selecting the Right System

Key parameters to evaluate for correctly sizing a project-specific CBRN filtration solution:

  • Volume to be protected (m³) and the number of personnel inside
  • Target interior pressure level and potential pressure leak points
  • Inlet air contamination profile (dust, salt, chemical agent likelihood)
  • Energy source (vehicle 24V DC, generator, 220V AC grid)
  • Operational duration and cartridge redundancy scenarios

During the RFQ phase, the engineering team provides cartridge combinations, airflow rates and power consumption calculations based on these parameters. Detailed technical documentation for systems successfully integrated onto in-service platforms of the Turkish Armed Forces and friendly nations is available on the individual product pages.
